Hemorrhoids, also known as piles in some parts of the world, are veins situated in your rectum and anus that are inflamed and swollen. Though most hemorrhoids are easily treated there are some that could pose danger by their side effects. If you experience excessive amounts of blood loss from the hemorrhoids you may get anemic and as there will be a shortage of red blood cells in your system, you would be prone to weakness and fatigue.
If the blood supply to a hemorrhoids gets cut the hemorrhoid can get extremely painful and lead to the death of tissues, known as gangrene.
Hemorrhoids are basically of two types; internal and external. Internal hemorrhoids are inside the anus and may result in blood accompanying the feces or the change of color of the stool. External hemorrhoids on the other hand as the name suggests are protruding outside of the anus and are very painful and irritating. External hemorrhoids are also known as protruding hemorrhoids. External hemorrhoids can get swollen or form into a hard lump due to the clotting of blood in that region. In case there is excessive strain on the hemorrhoids by rubbing and cleaning it tends to bleed and itch.
Constipation is one of the biggest factors that can lead to hemorrhoids. If you do not take in sufficient amounts of liquids it would cause stool to get harder, which in turn would lead to hemorrhoid radiation. Increased intake of yogurt increases the lactic acid in the stool thereby causing radiation. If you have hemorrhoids you should take a shower and should clean the area around the anus thoroughly. For cleaning the area you should use warm water and after cleaning the area, dry it properly with a cloth or dryer to remove moisture. Moist area can lead to excessive itching. You should avoid the use of toilet paper. Avoid soda beverages, beer, wine, citrus juices and caffeinated drinks. You should take a diet that prevents constipation, which means a diet that is rich in fiber content such as whole grains, vegetables such as beans, cabbage and carrot, and fresh fruits. In case you experience itching you can apply apple cider vinegar using cotton swabs on the hemorrhoids. You can also eat prunes as they have a laxative effect and help on softening the stool. Apply aloe vera gel to the hemorrhoids to ease the itching caused due to the inflammation in the hemorrhoids.
