Natural treatment for athletes foot -

Fungus contributes to flaky skin in between the toes. This is referred to as athletes foot, accompanied by red and cracked skin. It is infectious and is contracted by small particles of the skin in public areas. Over-the-counter ointments are preferred. Usage of baking soda or medicated foot powder in socks helps in keeping the feet dry. Absorbent cotton socks are helpful. Open sandals are worn, thereby preventing moisture accumulation. Shoes are disinfected by applying white vinegar or disinfectant. Well ventilated shoes are worn and anti perspirants are applied. Excessive intake of antibiotics or drug abuse results in death of the microbial flora, thereby resulting in poor immunity. Dab the area with cotton dipped in alcohol. Topical application of aloe vera gel is helpful. A mild wash with boric acid is an effective remedy. An aqueous mixture of cider vinegar is a good soak for the feet. Garlic powder dust or juice proves beneficial against athletes’ foot. Cinnamon boiled in four cups of water is used as a foot bath. Garlic has a fungistatic action and can be rubbed on the affected area. Grapefruit seed extract has a bacteriostatic action and is a useful remedy.
