If you have missed your period for the last three months and have ruled out pregnancy, there could be other reasons as to why this has happened. Some of the various causes for irregular periods are:-
- The presence of conditions such as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) as also other uterine abnormalities could be the reason why you have missed your period. Inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, tuberculosis, diabetes could also cause missed periods.
Thyroid problems and cancer are two other serious illnesses which could lead to irregular periods.
- Have you been dieting or gained more weight suddenly? Excessive weight loss or excessive weight gain could lead to irregular periods as well. Obesity as well as a low body weight could be responsible for you not having had a period for the last three months. Diet plays a vital role in regulating periods.
- Is anything worrying you? Emotional stress is also a major reason why a woman’s cycle may suddenly go haywire. Severe emotional stress has a serious effect on the reproductive cycle. Try to relax is this is the reason. Staying calm and restoring the physical and emotional balance in your life can help to sort this out.
- In case you also suffer from any kind of eating disorder, it could lead to missed periods. Bulimia nervosa or anorexia also influence the menstrual cycle.
- A hormonal problem is also among the common reasons most women experience a missed period. Changes in the hormone levels can lead to this occurring.
- Another reason is too much exercise. Sudden reduction in body fat can lead to missing your period. Endurance athletes often suffer from this problem due to the amount of exercise they undertake.
As you can see there are many reasons for missing a period. Once we determine the reason, we can find ways to deal with this problem.
