Remedies and cures for stretch marks - Excessive stretching of the skin results in pulling of the tissue, beneath the skin. This results in stretch marks. Purple or reddish lines are seen.
They are commonly seen after pregnancy. They also occur in the thighs, breasts, buttocks and hips. Other causative factors of stretch marks are body building, obesity, steroids intake, poor nutrient intake, medicines and hormonal imbalance.
Topical application of cocoa butter is an effective remedy. Skin elasticity is improved by drinking adequate amount of water. It prevents the formation of stretch marks. Regular exercise also helps. Olive oil, vitamin E oil or flaxseed oil is used in massaging off the marks. Seven drops of lavender oil and five drops of chamomile oil is mixed with jojoba oil (one ounce) and applied externally. Elastin cream is an equally effective remedy. Mix half a cup of olive oil, quarter cup of aloe vera gel with liquid from 4 capsules of vitamin A and 6 capsules of vitamin E. This is refrigerated and applied everyday. Avoidance of stress, especially in pregnancy aids in prevention of its formation. A light massage helps in enhancing circulation. A balanced diet is important. Eat a good amount of vegetables and fresh fruits.
