Hyperglycemia and Hypoglycemia

I do not have diabetes but some of the times my sugar level goes to 55 mg/dl. Why is it so and how to cure and take care?

There are a number of people who do not suffer from diabetes, but still find that their sugar levels change erratically. In cases where sugar levels go above the regular limitations, people suffer from hyperglycemia, causing them to experience different sensations. This however, could be dangerous because there are chances that one may just slip into a diabetic coma that leads to further complications.

On the other hand, there are certain people whose blood sugar levels drop below the normal limit, and they suffer from a condition known as hypoglycemia. Home remedies to alleviate the condition include:
  • Reducing the amount of sugar intake, if your sugar levels are high.
  • Most health complications related to sugar are connected with body weight. In order for your blood sugar levels to remain constant, it is necessary that you lead a healthy lifestyle and maintain a specific diet that gives your body the required amount of nutrition.
  • Switch to a diet that contains a lot of fiber content. This not only helps in restoring the proper blood sugar levels, but is an excellent method of clearing out the system that may give rise to such complications.
  • Drinking plenty of fluids on a daily basis will help to keep the body replenished and will also help to break down the sugars present in the body, thereby helping to restore the balance of blood sugar.
  • To treat low blood sugar conditions, people must consume at least two apples after every meal. The sucrose present in the apple will make good the deficit of sugar present in the blood and keep you from experiencing hypoglycemic conditions.
  • Instead of eating three large meals through the day, divide them into six smaller meals over the course of the day, thereby allowing the body to be provided with the required amounts of sugar right through the duration of the day.
