Home remedies for indigestion
- Soak a few pieces of ginger in lemon juice 1 hour before your meals. Chew on them half an hour after your meals. You can also grate ginger and extract its juice.
Mix ½ tsp of lemon juice and take it after your meals. You can also take 1 tsp of lime juice in the morning on an empty stomach. - Add 1 tsp of lemon juice in 1 glass of warm water and drink it immediately after getting up in the morning. This aids digestion and prevents gas from forming in the stomach.
- Space out your meals equally during the day so that you eat 5 or 6 smaller but frequent meals instead of 2 or 3 larger ones.
- Never overeat or go hungry for a longer period of time as it causes acidity and hampers the digestion process.
- Drink plenty of water, fruit juices and vegetable soups.
- Sip buttermilk along with your meals and drink 2 or 3 glasses of coconut water which cools the stomach.
- Drink chamomile tea, eat yogurt and chew carom seeds seeds after your meals.
- Avoid tea, coffee, fats, spices, red meat, white flour, processed foods, aerated drinks, alcohol and smoking.
- Exercise regularly, do deep breathing and take a stroll half an hour before going to sleep.
- Never lie down immediately after eating or do strenuous work.
- Eat fruits, raw vegetable salads, lean meat, fish, skim milk, brown rice, brown sugar, cereals and whole wheat products.

Home cures for indigestion
- Add 1 tsp of lemon juice or 1 tsp or apple cider vinegar to 1 glass of water and drink it before having your meals.
- Sip butter milk along with your meals. You can also drink it anytime during the day.
- Drinking coconut water cools the stomach and aids digestion.
- Add some mint juice to 1 cup of water and drink it 2 to 3 times a day.
- Add 3 drops of garlic oil to 1 cup of Soya oil and massage your abdomen area with it before your meals.
- Make a herbal tea of raspberry, mint, blackberry and chamomile and drink it after your meals. You can also drink ginger tea to cure indigestion.
- Add baking soda to 1 glass of water and drink it to get instant relief.
- Take half a glass each of honey and water and drink it twice a day.
- Avoid tea, coffee, alcohol, fried foods, junk foods, hot foods and stop smoking.
- Eat 5 to 6 smaller meals and refrain from overeating. Increase your intake of fruits and vegetables. Try to steam or boil your meals. Avoid butter and clarified butter. Drink at least 1 liter of water everyday. Exercise regularly and go for leisurely walks before going to bed at night.
