What can I do if I was in the sun too long and over heated?

Heavy sweating, feeling faint, low blood pressure, rapid pulse, nausea, and headache are some symptoms that your body is exhausted due to heat. Heat cramps are the lightest of effects of overheating in your body, while the most serious of the effects is a heat stroke.

Your body can get overheated when you are in a high humidity environment, or if you expose your body to high temperatures, causing excessive sweating. Highly stressful levels of physical activity can also cause your body to get overheated. You can prevent overheating by wearing loose-fitting clothes. Your clothes should be light in weight and also in color. Very dark colors absorb a lot of heat and transfer the same to your body causing overheating. You should drink a lot of water and fluids to keep yourself well-hydrated and maintain a comfortable body temperature. You should also avoid over exposure to the sun and be in a cool place.

Drinking peppermint tea helps reduce your body temperature and also keeps your body well hydrated. You should avoid a strenuous exercise regime and if that is something you cannot avoid, you should ensure that the exercise is done in a cool place. You should take frequent breaks in between your exercise schedule so that your body temperate remains regulated. If you are in a heated environment, your body will probably get used to the environment eventually but this will take time. The body needs time to adapt to a new environment. You can use a mix of cool water and apple cider vinegar to keep your body well hydrated and cool. This mixture not only adds minerals but also replaces electrolytes. Always use cool water and avoid the use of very cold water. In case you feel your body is overheated, you can try placing a wet cloth on your forehead, feet, and hands. These are the places that that draw most heat and if cooled will have an overall cooling effect. The water that is used to wet the cloth should be cool and not very cold as that might have an adverse effect. You should keep fluids handy. They not only keep your body well hydrated, they also keep your body cool as they do not let your body temperature take a sudden leap. You should keep a tab on the heating of your body as an extreme level of heating of your body can result in a heat stroke.
