Cures for Osteoporosis

I am suffering from Osteoporosis. I have excessive joints pain and feel very restless and lazy. Can you advice me something which can boost my energy and reduce my pain?

Osteoporosis is a disease that affects the bones. The bones start thinning and due to the increased fragility, they become prone to fractures. The symptoms of osteoporosis include bone pain and tenderness.

Due to the discomfort, it often makes it difficult to perform even simple movements and this is probably the reason why restlessness and lack of energy is experienced. Treatment for osteoporosis is aimed at minimizing bone loss and preventing fractures. The treatment may involve a combination of medications to relieve pain and improve bone strength. Lifestyle changes are also an important part of osteoporosis management. Here are some simple ways to ease bone pain.
  • Hot and cold packs are highly effective in reducing pain, especially localized pain. To relieve bone stiffness after waking up in the mornings, take a warm shower. Ensure that you take adequate support while standing. Cold packs are great for alleviating swelling and pain as they numb the nerves temporarily.
  • Physical therapy that helps to increase muscle strength will also help to tackle the problem of low energy. It keeps the limbs flexible and increases the release of natural painkilling chemicals in the body.
  • Exercise is often difficult when there is bone pain. However some amount of exercise performed regularly goes a long way in raising energy levels and keeping the body limber. However it is important not to overwork the body. Many health experts recommend walking in warm water to reduce pain. Swimming is also helpful in strengthening weak body tissues.
  • Massage therapy is effective in relaxing the muscles, relieving tension and reducing pain. It is advisable to consult a trained massage therapist.
  • A good supply of calcium is essential for preventing further bone loss. Include calcium rich foods in the diet such as soy, carrots, dairy products and sesame seeds.
