Cure for IBS

I am suffering from IBS from last eight year, which treatment should I do which is effective for this problem.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a rather uncomfortable condition to be suffering from. You could get very stressed only dealing with the symptoms of IBS such as abdominal cramping, alternating instances of constipation and diarrhea as well as flatulence and the passing of mucus from the rectum. Although the primary causes of the condition are still unknown, there are instances of the condition developing after the sufferer has experienced an episode of gastroenteritis.


Studies have shown that as many as about 20% of the entire adult population in the United States of America suffers from the condition. For reasons unknown, women seem to be more susceptible to the condition than men.

Eight years is a long time to suffer from this condition. It is necessary that you check with your doctor for a suitable cure for the condition. You could also try certain home remedies that over the years have proved very beneficial in treating IBS. Some of these are as follows:

  • The use of ginger is highly recommended when dealing with irritable bowel syndrome. You should simply cut a single pod into thin slices and pour some fresh lime juice over them. Consume this mixture after your meal to help in n proper digestion.
  • Another option you can try is to grind ginger, green cardamom seeds and pepper together to create a powder that should be mixed with water and consumed after every meal.
  • The kind of diet that you follow regularly plays a huge role in the extent to which irritable bowel syndrome will affect you. Make it a point to avoid consumption of spicy and oily foods while increasing your intake of foods that are high in fiber content.
  • One of the oldest yet most effective home remedies when dealing with irritable bowel syndrome is to add a couple of teaspoons of brandy in a single glass of lukewarm water and consume it just before retiring for the night.  Avoid drinking beverages that are known to irritate the intestines such as caffeine, tea and alcohol.
