People suffering from high blood pressure are increasing. Stress, maintaining work pressures, sedentary lifestyle, and faulty diet, increased intake of processed and packaged foods are culprits for hypertension. Managing stress is essential for controlling high blood pressure.
Breathing exercise like Pranayam, meditation, Yogasanas have been found to regulate breathing pattern of a person. It also helps in gaining control over emotions and hence lower blood pressure.
During stress, inhaling oil of blue chamomile directly is beneficial. External application using combination of lavender oil and olive oil or sunflower oil with blue chamomile massaged around the neck and shoulders can bring relief from high blood pressure. As celery helps in the dilation of muscles, celery juice in combination with carrot juice and water is beneficial/ Cloves of garlic contain ally sulphide and hence help in lowering cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Hawthorn leaves, flowers and berries can maintain regular beating of the heart. Flaxseed are important for improving the efficiency of cardiovascular function.
Consumption of sodium needs to be regulated. Limit the use of salt during cooking and avoid using salt on the table. Decrease the intake of animal foods like Salted meat, salted dry fish or other products like salted pop corns, cakes, pastries. Read the label on foods bought from the market for the content of sodium. Increase the intake of fresh fruits and vegetables. Banana, grapefruit, melons, cabbage and cauliflower are rich in potassium whereas nuts, rice, wheat, beans, soy are rich in Magnesium. These minerals are anti hypertensive and can lower the blood pressure. A low sodium diet is unpalatable. Hence spices, herbs and lemon juice may be used freely to make the diet more appetizing. A proper consultation with the specialist in terms of medication is essential.
