(10 Sep 2007)

Remedies for burning sensation

Several people complain of a burning sensation due to a variety of reasons but most of them notice this in their hands and feet. Is the burning sensation that you experience restricted to the side of your thigh? Or have noticed it in other parts of your body too?

If this sensation is accompanied by profuse sweating, then you can safely attribute this to your body's reaction to the weather. Several people experience a burning sensation in their body during the hot weather. However if you continue to experience this burning sensation only in one spot, then you will need to consult a doctor who can help you identify the reasons for this.

For burning sensation caused by excessive heat, you can try these simple home remedies. First of all increase your intake of fluids. Both water and fruit juices should be drunk throughout the day. Drinking buttermilk is a good way to bring down your body temperatures. Avoid eating hot spicy food since this will only add to the body heat. Bathing in cool or lukewarm will help bring the body temperature down. You can also try sponging yourself down with cool water during the day. Make a paste of sandalwood powder and water. Apply this to the affected area (in your case your thigh) and let it dry. Increasing your intake of fruits and salads will help you feel light and cool, and will certainly help solve the problem of a burning sensation. Wear clothes in natural fibers rather than synthetic garments.
