How do you get rid of fever blisters?

Fever blisters are caused by a highly contagious virus called herpes simplex virus-1 that can even spread by shaking hands, sharing common towels or dining utensils and even by kissing. Try these home remedies for cold sores or fever blisters –
- Apply ice on the affected region for 5 minutes every 1-2 hours to avoid its spread and its further development.
- Tannic acid from tea have anti-viral properties, to avoid further development of fever blisters apply wet tea bags on them for 5 minutes every 2 hours.
- Aloe vera gel or juice is also an effective remedy when applied on cold sores.
- Avoid caffeine, salty and acidic food.
