Treatment for lower back pain

A bad posture, long hours sitting or standing on our feet, there are several reasons to account for a pain the back. If you have suffered some injury to your back years ago, it is more than likely that your present pain is connected to that pain. If your pain is also accompanied by dizzy spells, numbness or tingling in your feet or legs, then a visit to your doctor is absolutely essential.

You have not mentioned if your pain is constant or if it is aggravated by something you do. In any case, whenever you suffer a pain in your back, you should lie down for a little while.  Instead of lying on the bed, try lying on the floor. Place a pillow under your knees and another under your head. You can also take the pressure off your back by bending your knees or by putting your legs up on a chair. If you have to stand for long periods of time,  move your legs constantly. If you are moving house, stay away from lifting anything heavy. Pushing the object is a better option than pulling it towards you.  Sometimes, if your lifestyle is sedentary, the muscles hurt. You can fight this by taking up some regular exercise.  Sitting up straight puts less pressure on your back. If you are driving for a long distance or seated at your computer, lean back rather than forward. Use a small pillow or rolled up towel under your neck to help you be comfortable.
