The sluggish movements of your bowel or constipation can be due to various reasons like inadequate water intake, inadequate fiber intake, stress, lack of exercise, medications or bad bowel habits. Try the following home remedies to relieve constipation – - First thing in the morning after brushing your teeth should be drinking 2 glasses of warm water.
- Check your diet, if it is lacking in fiber include lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole cereals, pulses and sprouts.
Avoid junk foods, refined carbohydrates and empty calorie foods like sugar and sago which contain no fiber. - Have breakfast that contains oats or psyllium as they are loaded with fiber and will help in defecation process.
- Keep in mind the foods that cause constipation for you, for instance apples or milk can relieve constipation in some but for others they can be a cause for constipation.
- Keep yourself active and physically fit. If walking is what you can do, then try to do that as it is considered as one of the best form of exercise and will help to relieve constipation.
- Don’t depend on laxatives for your bowels as they can have several side effects and also cause dependency. Consult a specialist before starting any laxative.
