Detoxification of the body is done to eliminate or neutralize the toxic materials, heavy metals or parasites from colon, kidneys, liver and skin. Emphasize on the following vitamins and minerals that would help detoxify your body –
- Selenium supplements or present in natural form like garlic, brown rice, chicken, onions, broccoli, brazil nuts, dairy products, sea food, whole grains, vegetables and molasses can be very helpful. Selenium is essential in the synthesis of glutathione peroxidase which is an antioxidant enzyme required to detoxify the body.
Stop smoking and alcohol, as selenium stores are depleted due to these habits. - Another natural antioxidant which helps to neutralize the free radicals and decrease the oxidative stress is zinc. Zinc is present naturally in oysters, lamb, egg yolk, fish, soy beans, parsley and kelp.
- Hydration is very important. Drinks lots of fluids in the form of water or juices. Have apples or apple juice. The pectins, malic acid and tannic acid, along with all the minerals present in apples are very effective in normalizing the intestines.
