Treatment for fire ants sting

What do I use if stung by fire ants?

Try the following home remedies for fire ant stung -
  • Dissolve 1 tsp baking soda in a glass of water. With the help of a cotton ball apply this solution on the sting for 15-20 minutes.
  • Open 2-3 capsules of charcoal mix it with water to make a paste.


    Apply this paste of the affected area. This will help to reduce inflammation, itching, swelling and draw out toxins from the sting.
  • Ice packs or cold tea bags applied on the bites can relieve itching. The tannins from the tea will help to relieve the itch.
  • Apply calamine lotion on the bites, it will act as a great coolant and prevent itching.
In future to avoid stung by fire ants keep the following points in mind -
  • Wear appropriate clothes preferably with full sleeves and full pants and boots during any outdoor activity.
  • Observe where these fire ants live and avoid visiting or standing near those places. Also don’t disturb the nest of fire ants purposely.
  • Insect repellants used on clothing or footwear is also helpful to avoid fire ant bites.
