Utricaria is used synonymously for the condition ‘hives'. It is estimated that this condition can occur to 15-25 % of the general population over the world sooner or later in their lives. Skin itching, eruptions, itching and swelling on any part of the body are the common symptoms for utricaria.

The welts can be 0. 2 inch in diameter often surrounded with a pale border. Depending on the nature the itching can be mild to severe. Stress, allergy to some foods, alcoholic beverages, scratching or exercises may worsen your itching.

Also the episodes would vary among different individuals from some hours to some days to some weeks; however each welt should not last for more than 24 hours. Maintaining a diary to note down foods that cause an allergic reaction would be very helpful. It would be wise to eliminate those food items from the diet till the symptoms subside. Take special care while eating food out in a restaurant and read labels before buying any packed foods.
