Treatment for pinworms

Pinworms are worms that live in people. They can spread easily from one person to another through the tiny eggs that they lay. If you child is unable to sleep because of a furious itching in his bottom, then he has pinworm.

In the night the female pin worm travels to the child's anal region and lays eggs near the opening. When the child scratches his bottom he invariably gets the eggs on his hands, especially under his nails. When the child touches his toys, books, even his food, the worms spread.

Children he meets at school or during play invariably get the worms on them through shared toys and books.  You should certainly take your child to the pediatrician who will examine your child and give you an accurate diagnosis of his condition.

Hygiene is of paramount important in any war against worms. You should ensure that you child washes his hands frequently. After every trip to the bathroom insist that his hands are washed with soap. Always keep your child's nails cut short.

If the child complains of excessive itching, then wipe his anus with a wet cloth.  You can also pop the child into a bath tub filled with lukewarm water.
