Information on eye infection
You are right in being worried about an eye infection. The eyes are extremely sensitive and can be easily damaged by little things such as a foreign object that gets stuck in one of them. You can try to get the piece of chicken out yourself, but if you are finding it difficult to do this, you should go to an ophthalmologist immediately.
Do not spend more than a day trying to get something out of your eye. If the object seems stuck, hand over the job to a specialist.
Since this is a piece of chicken, it might be possible to see it.
Objects sometimes get stuck under the upper eyelid, so if you the piece isn't visible when you simply open your eyes wide, lift your upper eyelid and ask someone else to take a look. If you can locate the piece, use a clean cloth to get it out. You can also blink an object out sometimes. Do this several times in the day, blinking continuously for at least a minute. Another thing you can do is wash or flush out the object. Keep your eye wide open and splash some tap water into it. Don't use any of the home made solutions that are often recommended, plain water is the best. You can try squirting water in your eye, but be sure that the jet of water is weak.
