Though I use antidandruff shampoo I do not see any changes. When i rub or massage my head, i find lot of dandruff falling. my skin type is oily. what should i do?

Dandruff is a scalp condition that can be controlled. Too little oil or too much oil can result in dandruff. Try these home remedies :-

  • Rubbing lemon juice over the scalp before taking a bath helps prevent dandruff.
  • Massage the scalp with almond oil. Dip a towel in boiling water and wrap it around the hair. Repeat it three or four times when the towel gets cold.
  • Mix 100 g witch hazel and 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice in 200 ml water. Shampoo your hair and apply with cotton to the scalp when the hair are still wet. Repeat several times until the dandruff is treated.
  • aloe vera dandruff cure - with aloe vera gel . About 10-15 minutes before you wash your hair, rub aloe vera gel into your scalp. leave it on for 10 minutes, and shampoo your hair like you regulary do. if you do this everyday the dandruff will stay away.
  • Rub olive oil on scalp, let sit for several minutes and wash off.

Dandruff can cause severe itching but when you scratch to relieve itching, your nails can cause damage to the scalp and give rise to infection. So, avoid scratching. Warm oil massages with fingertips (not nails) will improve blood circulation by stimulating the hair roots. If your scalp is oily, wash it often (at least 2-3 times a week).

You seem to have dry dandruff especially if you find white flakes falling on rubbing or scratching your head.

Boric Powder Cure: Take 1 teaspoon boric powder and mix with warm coconut oil. Apply on scalp and keep on for 2-3 hours and wash off with cleanser or mild herbal shampoo. Repeat at least once a week. This is highly effective to maintain the acid ph of the scalp and great for treating dandruff.

Cleanser Recipe:Squeeze half a lime in 5 tablespoons of curd (plain white yogurt). Mix in 2 teaspoons of green gram powder. Apply on scalp for 10 mins. Wash hair thoroughly with a creamy shampoo. Do this at least once a week.
