Moles refer to marks, spots or irregularities on the skin and may be slightly raised as compared to the surrounding areas. A mole may be the same color as the skin or may be red, brown or black. Some moles are present from birth and some may develop later in life.

Exposure to the harmful rays of the sun is known to increase the formation of moles. Moles are usually harmless but may sometimes lead to cancer due to constant contact with clothing and exposure to sunlight. In such a case, the mole must be removed surgically immediately.

Honey is the best known natural remedy for mole removal. Applying the purest form of honey daily to the affected area effectively fades moles. A mixture of honey and powdered flaxseed applied on the mole fades the blemish and eventually leads to its disappearance. The juice of an onion smeared on the area is known to be effective in getting rid of small moles. Smearing the mole with fig, pineapple or sour apple juice is also known to diminish blemishes. Applying ripe banana pulp to the mole and keeping it covered with a band-aid until its time for a bath is also known to reduce moles. Crushed garlic applied on moles for a few days is a known remedy against moles. A paste made by mixing a bit of baking soda in castor oil, left on the mole overnight and washed off in the morning assists in getting rid of the mole. A few drops of lemon extract added to ground drumstick pods is effective in fading away spots. Rubbing dandelion root on the mole for a few days, till its juices cover the mole completely is an effective remedy for the removal of warty moles. Cauliflower juice applied on a warty mole causes it to fall off in a few days. The process for removing the mole may take a few weeks to months depending on the size of the mole.

A diet with foods rich in potassium like apples, bananas, grapefruit and avocados are effective in the treatment of moles. Vegetables like tomatoes, spinach, potatoes, kidney beans and lima beans are rich sources of potassium. Apple cider vinegar has high potassium content and is beneficial for the removal of moles. Using a band-aid to secure a cotton swab soaked in apple cider vinegar over the mole over night helps to get rid of moles permanently.

Why moles are caused is still unknown, however you should learn to watch your mole carefully. Report any changes in color, shape or texture to a specialist. Also notice if it pains, bleeds or burns or grows rapidly.

Try these home remedies, and for too stubborn moles.
  • Make a fresh paste daily from ground flaxseed, a drop of flaxseed oil with honey. Apply this mixture on the moles.
  • To lighten the moles apply fresh pineapple or raw potato on the moles 2-3 times a day.
  • Massage the area with tea tree oil daily for 2 weeks. This will help to lighten the moles.
  • Dab iodine in cotton ball and rub it over the mole, this is also a very effective remedy for moles.
To cut or squeeze a mole at home is a very nasty idea. If you are really interested in getting rid of it, consult a cosmetic surgeon who would help you to cut it with the help of latest instruments or laser with out leaving a scar on your skin.
