Acne is considered to be a disorder of the skin, which occurs as a result of the body’s hormones acting upon the sebaceous glands of the skin. The combined effect leads to clogged pores and breaking out of nodules or cysts commonly referred to as pimples. These pimples tend to occur on the face, shoulders, neck, back, and even the chest.
Acne is considered to be one of the most commonly experienced skin disorders. Whilst teenagers are more likely to suffer from acne, it has been known to affect almost anybody, irrespective of age and gender. Although acne is not considered to be a major health threat, it can nevertheless be responsible for a great deal of annoyance as it can be responsible for serious long-term scarring.
Irregular eating habits, unhealthy diets including excessive starches, sugars and fatty foods are the primary factors responsible for the occurrence of acne. Another factor that is responsible for this condition is constipation. Waste matter is not flushed out effectively when bowel movements are irregular, leading to waste matter infiltrating the bloodstream. Due to the pressure on the skin to expel excessive waste matter, acne gets formed.
There are several natural home remedies which can be used to gain relief from the symptoms of acne. One can prepare a pack by taking 50 g of strawberry or raspberry leaves and boiling them in 1 ½ liter of water for about three minutes. Application of this pack on the affected area of the skin is believed to be beneficial in providing an individual with relief from any pain and discomfort caused by the acne. One can also use yoghurt and fine oatmeal to prepare a thick paste. Applying this paste on the affected areas and leaving it to dry for a while can reduce the inflammation from the acne. Aloe vera is also considered to be very effective in alleviating the symptoms of acne. Soaps and gels containing extracts of aloe vera are thought to be beneficial in clearing acne and healing the skin. Rubbing the peel of an orange on the affected area is also known to be beneficial. One can also prepare a solution consisting of half a glass of boiled milk mixed with freshly squeeze lemon juice. Applying the solution on the affected area can bring about relief from the acne.
A healthy balance diet can also play an important role in the prevention of acne. Ensure that you drink plenty of water as it not only keeps the body well hydrated, but is also beneficial in flushing out excessive toxins from the body.
