The virus signals activity by presenting symptoms, peaks through eruptions and dies down as the blisters heal.   • Cornstarch: Applying cornstarch on the affected area can provide relief from fever blisters and also speed the healing process.

  • Honey: Honey is known to be antiviral and antifungal in nature. Applying honey on the mouth and lip is an ideal therapy to treat fever blisters.

  • Aloe Vera: Aloe Vera juice is another effective remedy to treat blisters. It can also prevent the sore from erupting.
  • Milk cream: After the blisters heal, the skin may feel dry. Milk cream is a good way to keep the skin soft and ease discomfort.
  • Grapefruit Seed Extract: The extract must be mixed with olive oil or Aloe Vera oil. Dab the mixture on the sore to provide relief from irritation.
  • Tea Bag: A tea bag can be boiled in water and cooled. The warm tea bags have tannic acid that allows the sores to heal faster.
  • Camphor: Camphor solution can soothe the irritation and also numb the pain. Dab a cotton ball in camphor solution and apply topically over the sores.
Other factors that can help relieve the discomfort associated with fever blisters are:
  • Consider a soft and bland diet to avoid irritating the sores.
  • Avoid touching or picking the sores.
  • Avoid sharing personal items or eating, drinking from same utensils.
  • Take adequate rest.

Fever blisters are caused by a highly contagious virus called herpes simplex virus-1 that can even spread by kissing.  Before taking any medications, it is advisable to consult a specialist. Monistate 7 may help to control the bacterial infection but take it under proper recommendation and guidance.
