Most of the people who come looking for advice related to weight problems are looking for ways to lose weight. There are few who want to gain weight and therefore advice is also usually directed in a manner that addresses the people who want to lose weight more than people who want to gain some.

The reasons for gaining weight could vary as different people have a different view of a healthy body image.

Often, there are people who think they are too skinny. Being too skinny is a problem and could have an underlying medical cause. If you think that you are too skinny, the best advice is to go see a doctor so that you can eliminate the chances of any metabolic or hormonal disorders. If the doctor can detect a problem, the best way to gain weight is to get the problem fixed. However, in an event where no such problems are found, there are plenty of things that you can do.

Since you want to build mass specifically around the arms, it is best that you develop a strategy. Usually the advice given to those who want to gain weight is to increase caloric intake. However, in your case, there is a need to gain muscle mass in the arms and not just fat therefore you should concentrate on eating a lot of proteins while creating a workout routine for yourself which will help you achieve your goal. First, concentrate more on simple moves. Train your biceps using simple exercises like the E-Z Curls, lying cable curls, hammer curls, Preacher Curls, Reverse E-Z curls, and biceps chins. You may discuss with a professional trainer regarding the right way of doing these exercises. Next, you want to build up your triceps so move on to the parallel bar and do some parallel bar dips, triceps extensions, and bench presses.

However, do not keep repeating the same routine. There should be a healthy variety of exercises in your fitness routine that don’t strain you a lot. This changing variety challenges the body and helps gain muscle. A normal fixed routine will work up to a period and then you will see sluggishness set into your gains. With the exercises, also give enough attention to your meals. Eat small meals but increase the number of meals. Also, eat a healthy mix of fruits and vegetables so that you get the energy required for your workouts and don’t get burned out.

There are three areas that really need to be focused on to gain weight.

1. Nutrition
2. Cardio
3. Weight training.

You can use these to build muscle in the proper places therefore keeping you from gaining weigh in your thighs.

Eating the right foods will enable you to put the weight on the right way, cardio will help turn the fat into muscle and weight training will help build up the areas you want bigger.

Specific strength training exercises using dumbbells will be beneficial to strengthen the muscles on your arms and thighs and tone them. A fitness trainer should assist you with this.
