Botanically called Taraxacum, the dandelion is a plant belonging to the genus Astearacea. The genus is a native of Europe and Africa. Althoug not commonly used as an ingredient in food in most parts of the world, the plant offers a number of health benefits.



Some of the significant health benefits of dandelion are as follows:

  • Dandelion is a rich source of antioxidants and protects you from the lethal effects of the chain reactions which may be initiated by the production of free radicals, formed as a result of chemical reactions in the body. Dandelion contains luteolin, which is a potent antioxidant.
  • Dandelion is also a reservoir of caffeic acid which can also functions as a cleansing agent for human beings.
  • Dandelion may be used as an effective diuretic substance that serves to clean your urinary tract and cleanses germs, residues, and toxins from your body. As such, dandelion also serves to boost the state of your immune system.
  • The roots, flowers, and leaves of dandelion may also be used for liver detoxification.
  • Dandelion may also be used as an anti inflammatory agent and as such, may be used to cure a wide variety of ailments.
  • Dandelion also serves to normalize the level of your blood sugar, thereby protecting you from diabetes.

Benifits of Dandelion,

Specially the root and leaves of Dandelion are very useful.The roots are used as diuretic as well as leaves they have cleansing ,detoxifying and anti-oxidising properties.

The leaves are dried pounded and grounded drunk as coffee.They are rich in potassium,calcium,Vit C and vitamin k etc .
