One of the best dry scalp remedies for children as also adults that could be employed is with olive oil. Olive oil is available everywhere these days and is known to be one of the healthier cooking oils around. The same oil can be used for the hair as well. Olive oil can be massaged deep into the scalp to improve the condition of the hair. As the scalp now gets nourished, it will feel less itchy and uncomfortable. Another dry scalp treatment at home involves the use of coconut oil. This is usually found in tropical areas but is becoming increasingly popular elsewhere as well. Coconut oil has an extremely good nourishing effect on the scalp and is one of the effective dry scalp remedies. Improved nourishment of the scalp will lead to it being less dry.
Finally, one should protect the scalp from excessive sun exposure as a way of avoiding dry scalp. Excessive solar exposure is one of the possible dry scalp causes. When spending long periods of time outdoors, one needs to wear a cap or a hat to ensure that the hair and scalp are protected from heat. Any exposure to dust or chlorinated water should be immediately followed by a shower. This will ensure that the scalp is cleaned, thus reducing the chances of it becoming dry due to clogged pores.

Health advice for dry scalp - - Apply a mixture of almond oil, olive oil with coconut oil gently into the scalp. Massage it softly with gentle movements of the fingers for 10 minutes every alternate day for 2 months.
- Drink juice of 500 gms. bottle gourd every day early in the morning for 2 months.
- Take a homeopathic remedy called Arnica 30, 5 pills once daily for 7 days followed by another homeopathic remedy called Acid phos 30, 5 pills once daily for 15 days.
