Acne Vulgaris Treatment

What is the duration of acne vulgaris?

Acne vulgaris, which literally means common acne, is the most common acne problem that almost all of us suffer from at some point or the other. It’s a common inflammatory condition where the skin gets papules and painful lesions on its surface. This kind of acne is basically caused due to the various changes in the pilosebaseous units and the hair follicles that are present on our facial skin. When these get clogged due to excessive secretion of oils, acne is formed.

There are several forms in which acne vulgaris could be present on our skin. blackheads, whiteheads, pustules and cysts that cause soreness and redness are all forms of acne vulgaris. The causes are usually genetic which means that they could last you a lifetime. However, changing levels of hormones can also cause them. This rise in the male hormones called androgen, can affect both men and women. Not maintaining proper personal hygiene and letting the skin pores become clogged with dirt and other particles could also cause acne. In addition to that certain cosmetics which contain harmful chemicals and strong medicines like steroids can also cause acne. It has also been observed that children who eat a lot of sweets or greasy foods get acne more than their counterparts. These small pimples, whiteheads and blackheads could form anywhere over the body. Sometimes, they could also turn into cysts and become red and painful.

Since this condition is caused due to excess sebum or oil on the skin, keeping the skin clean and moisturized will go a long way in preventing acne. If it still persists, you can use some of the home remedies listed here:

  • Mix honey and cinnamon powder together and apply on your pimples everyday before sleeping. Leave the paste on while you sleep and in the morning simply wash it off. In two weeks, you will have got rid of your acne.
  • Take an orange peel and tear it. Dry it in shade and then grind it with some water. Use this paste on your acne. It might sting a little but will give you effective results.
  • Give some attention to your diet too. Cut down on fatty foods and eat healthier food. Try and have a balanced diet. Eat a lot of fibrous foods to keep the sebum levels down.
  • Clean your face every time you come home from outside. After cleaning it with a face wash meant for oily skin, use a toner and then moisturize.
