In order to treat anything, one must first look at the cause. Shingles is largely caused by a weak immune system, which is why it is most common in the elderly. It is related to chicken pox also and most of the time the blister like sores appear on the head, hands, and arms.
This is extremely painful for the inflicted. To treat what is going on internally, it is important to boost the immune system. There are several ways of doing this, but the most effective is to start taking a potent multivitamin every day and include herbal supplementation of Bilberry extract, Olive Leaf Extract, Goldenseal, Echinacea, and Oregano Extract.
The herbs will help attack the virus while the vitamins will boost the immune system so your body can fight back. As with any illness, drinking plenty of good clean water and getting lots of sleep is very important. Remember, your body heals while you sleep! To treat the external discomfort, you can use 100% pure Aloe Vera gel. Rub Aloe on the areas affected by the shingles. A cream with silver solution in it is also very effective as is calendula cream, which is commonly used on children to help them through chicken pox. I think we can all remember the pink lotion our parents smeared all over us to stop the itching!
