Boils can be very painful and are not a result of personal hygiene problems. They can be caused by a number of things including tight clothing.  They are a result of bacteria getting into a hair follicle or pore.

The boils will go away by themselves after a time, much like pimples. It is a bad idea to squeeze a boil as this can lead the spreading of the bacteria and more boils. Taking a long hot bath and then applying tea tree oil every day until the boil is gone will help to speed healing and prevent further infection.

Also, applying hot and cold presses can both soothe the pain associated with boils and help them to heal faster. Keep the hot wash cloth on the boil for three to five minutes and then apply the cold wash cloth for 30 to 60 seconds. Repeated treatments daily will cause the boil to burst. At this point, it is a good idea to treat it with tea tree oil twice daily until it heals. Keeping the area clean is very important as well. Avoid tight clothing or rough fibers that might irritate the skin. If you don’t want to go to the effort of treating it, the boil will go away on its own.
