The best way to get rid of an ingrown hair is to use a body scrub or green scrub pad to remove the dead skin cells and free the ingrown hair. If it is in an area that this is impossible, you can take a pair of tweezers and pluck the ingrown hair. After you have removed the ingrown hair, it is important to disinfect the site with either rubbing alcohol or some other type of topical disinfectant to prevent infection.

Disinfect daily for two or three days and keep the area clean. Ingrown hairs can be very painful and they tend to get infected regularly. If you can catch them early, this is best so you avoid infection and excess soreness.

For the future prevention of ingrown hairs, remove dead skin all over your body regularly and use shaving lotion or cream while shaving.  Moisturizing your skin after shaving can also help reduce ingrown hairs. Using cocoa butter is especially good as it provides nutrients to the hair follicle for healthy growth, you should moisturize daily….especially on areas that are shaven.  If an ingrown hair is infected, remove carefully with tweezers and disinfect immediately. Squeeze out any puss or fluid and disinfect again. Then apply cocoa butter to help with the discomfort.
