Thick and lustrous hair is one of the most desired and cherished attributes in an individuals appearance, so it is no wonder that a lot of people would find it extremely discomforting to notice a few strands of hair fall off whenever they run a brush through their hair. Given the fact that, whichever cosmetic store you walk into anywhere in the world, you are likely to be confronted by a large variety of hair care products that seem to almost guarantee the health and beauty of your hair, shows that people all over the world react with the same amount of resistance to hair loss. The loss of hair, gradual or sudden, can be caused by a variety of different factors.
Different schools of thought within the medical and scientific professions are even known to disagree on some of the causes. It is important to understand though, that hair loss is a natural part of the human body’s process of self renewal and whenever hair falls out, new hair will generally replace it. It may take an individual a significant amount of time to notice the new hair because hair tends to grow at an average rate of 1 inch every two months. This means that the new hair follicle will take some time to grow to the length of the older hair, by which time the older hair has either grown even longer, or fallen out as well.
Hair loss is more noticeable when the replacement hair either grows extremely slowly or not at all. This can be attributed to aging, infections, stress and emotional strain, toxic substances and hormonal imbalances.
A few of the more common home remedies to curb hair loss include mixing some fresh curd, lemon and mustard oil and applying it on your hair before washing it off after ½ an hour. You could stimulate the roots of the hair by smearing some castor oil over the scalp, making sure that you do not apply it to the strands of hair, wrap it in a thin clean cloth and cover that with a towel and leave it on overnight. Wash your hair well in the morning. Repeat this hair treatment every 7 to 10 days to see significant results after about 6 treatments. You could also create a paste by beating an egg with 8 drops of lemon juice and applying it over your head before washing it off with the help of an herbal shampoo.
