The favorite place for cold sore is adjacent to mouth close to the lips. They are caused by herpes simplex virus and are commonly referred as fever blisters.

Try these home remedies to get rid of cold sores –

  • Press warm tea bags on the blister for at least 20 minutes to get rid of the blister.
  • Rub ice over the blister with an interval of 1 hour for instant relief.
  • Avoid too acidic and salty foods.
  • Apply powdered rock salt on the cold sore and hold there for at least 30 minutes.
  • Maintain personal hygiene as cold sores are highly contagious – wash hands often especially before eating food and after touching the cold sore and avoid sharing common towels, napkins or utensils among your family members.
