Sinusitis Infection

How could treat my disease sinusitis
(20 Oct 2010)

The sinuses are four pairs of small, air filled spaces which are located within the bones that are around the eyes, nose and cheeks. Sinusitis is the medical term used when these sinuses get inflamed. Sinusitis could be either acute or chronic.

Chronic sinusitis symptoms are similar to acute sinusitis except that they last longer and cause more fatigue. Chronic sinusitis symptoms will last for longer than 8 weeks, or will keep coming back. Chronic sinusitis symptoms include:-
  • A reduced sense of smell and taste
  • Swelling, pain and tenderness around forehead, eyes, nose or cheeks
  • A drainage of a thick greenish or yellowish discharge either down the back of the throat, or from the nose
  • Coughing, which worsens at night
  • Aching in your upper jaw and teeth.
Other chronic sinusitis symptoms also include ear pain, nausea, bad breath, irritability or fatigue and a sore throat. Keep in mind that fever is not a common symptom of chronic sinusitis.

A sinusitis infection can be treated with several home remedies. Some home remedies for sinusitis are :-
  • Steam inhalation has been found to be a very effective home remedy to alleviate the congestion that accompanies sinusitis. Steam helps to thin the mucus which helps in drainage. Inhale steam from a vaporizer or even from a bowl of hot water for quick relief. This should be done twice a day.
  • Increase your fluid intake. Drink at least 8 glasses of warm water or juice. A good fluid intake will also help in draining the mucous secretions.
  • Mix a teaspoonful of mustard seeds in a glass of water. Boil this till the water content reduces to half. Allow it to cool and then put three-four drops in the nose.
  • Garlic is also considered useful for sinusitis natural treatment. Soak 4-5 cloves of garlic in water, for a while. Make a paste out of them and then inhale this. This will help to unclog your nose and clear the sinus passages as well. You can also eat raw garlic or simply add it to a salad.
  • Rest – your body needs to rest if it is to fight the sinusitis infection. This will also help with a quick recovery.
  • Eucalyptus oil will help relive a sinus headache. Add a few drops to the vaporizer or even put a few drops on your pillow. Mint and peppermint oils help as well.
  • Drink 1-2 teaspoons of ginger juice daily till your symptoms disappear.
A visit to the doctor is recommended in order to avoid further infection from taking place.
