Home remedies for severe toothache pain
( 1 Sep 2010)

Dental pain is one of the most painful medical ailments to suffer from primarily because of the very high sensitivity of the nerves in the mouth. Given the fact that there are a number of companies that manufacture dental care products only gives you a vague idea of how important oral care is in the long run. Toothpastes, dental floss and mouthwash all play a substantial role in the upkeep of your teeth as well as making sure the mouth is as clean as possible to prevent the onset of any kind of infection.

However, this is all much easier said than done. Unfortunately, no matter how much care you take of your teeth – there is always a loophole that needs to be filled. This could lead to the development of some kind of infection at some time or the other. The primary cause of a toothache is tooth decay – which is essentially the result of a faulty diet. Tooth decay is influenced by a number of factors, none more so than the consumption of soft drinks, sweets, pastries, refined carbohydrates and sugar in all its forms. The bacteria that is naturally present in the mouth will then proceed to break the sugar content down into acids which will then combine with the calcium content of the enamel leading to decay and erosion.

Because of the fact that the condition is such a common ailment to be suffering from, there are a number of rather effective home remedy for toothache pain options that are surprisingly easy to prepare. For example, one of the most widely used toothache home remedies is to simply place a small piece of garlic combined with rock salt on the affected tooth. This will almost instantly relieve the pain and, if performed on a daily basis, cure the tooth and make it strong and healthy. Being a rich source of vitamin C, lime is also considered to be very useful when it comes to dealing with toothaches. An increased consumption of the vitamin will help prevent tooth decay as well as loosening of the teeth and other dental problems including bleeding of the gums, toothache and dental caries. As always, your diet will play a significant role in the condition of your teeth. Restrict your sugar intake while making sure that your diet contains a lot of raw vegetables and whole wheat bread. Brushing your teeth at least twice a day and flossing after every meal will help prevent any food particle buildup.
