Relief from Hemorrhoids
(20 Aug 2010)

Hemorrhoids occur on and around the mouth of the anal passage and can become inflamed and swollen. It can be quite a painful condition that affects defecation. There are also different levels of severity for the condition and so different ways to get relief from hemorrhoids.

A mild or moderate condition will cause no prolapsed. More serious conditions can cause prolapsed which sorts itself out. As the condition worsens, the prolapsed may be reduced by hand. The most serious cases of prolapse due to hemorrhoids cannot be reduced manually. Hemorrhoids are also known as piles and cases are common across the world. There are many different reasons that can cause hemorrhoids. Most patients tend to have a diet that does not contain enough fiber. Fiber allows food to flow smoothly through the digestive system and also gives bulk not only to the food but also to the fecal matter. This bulk allows the feces to be passed easily and efficiently. Patients suffering from hemorrhoids can gain some relief from hemorrhoids by changing their diets in order to add more fiber that will allow fecal matter to be passed easily.

Some cases of hemorrhoids are caused by particular exercises or simply by spending too much time sitting on a toilet seat. Modern toilet seats are designed to widen the anal opening so that defecation is hygienic and efficient. This can put a strain on the anal opening and repeated straining of the opening can cause hemorrhoids. Therefore, another method to provide relief from hemorrhoids is to avoid spending too much time on a toilet seat and to avoid rigorous activity that involves exercise that might stretch the area around the anus.

Constipation is a known cause for hemorrhoids. Apart from consuming fiber which will help avoid constipation, one can use other methods to attain relief from hemorrhoids. These include consuming plenty of water and performing mild exercises like walking. The process of walking can help the food move through the digestive system. A person who has previously suffered from constipation and hemorrhoids should never avoid the urge to visit the toilet when defecation is necessary. Holding one’s fecal matter also puts pressure on the anal area. It also means that the quantity of feces increases as one continues to hold the anus. This can lead to painful defecation and would aggravate a mild condition of hemorrhoids. After consulting with a doctor one can use topical creams that are designed to reduce the symptoms of hemorrhoids and provide some relief from hemorrhoids pain.
