Relief from Foot Pain
(20 Aug 2010)

The feet are a very important part of the body as they carry the entire weight of the body as well as help in locomotion. This makes the feet also one of the most stressed organs, especially whenever any kind of physical movement from one location to another is involved. One would therefore not doubt the reason as to why the feet would suffer so much wear, tear and general discomfort.

Most of the time, we do not provide the feet with the level of care that they require, considering that they play a very important part of our daily lives. Moreover, the fact that obesity is a very common condition in this age of junk food and convenient electronics, it only serves to place the feet with significantly larger burdens than they should have to bear. Studies estimate that a person will, in his lifetime, walk about 100,000 miles – roughly the course of four times around the earth. A sentence like that puts into perspective the amount of work that the feet actually have to carry out over the course of a single lifetime. It is no wonder then that relief from foot pain is something that is very commonly sought.

There are a number of easy to perform steps that one can incorporate into his or her own life to achieve lasting relief from foot pain. Occasionally, making it a point to step out of any kind of shoes or even footwear and tread bare foot as was naturally intended is a good way to provide relief from foot pain. Wearing insoles in your shoes can help reduce any intense pain that you may be experiencing in the foot as well. In the event that your foot seems to be inflamed, the application of some ice would do wonders when it comes to calming down the irritated cells in the feet as well as alleviate any tenderness. However, it is important to make sure that you prevent the ice from damaging your skin cells by wrapping the ice in a towel before application. Soaking your feet in a tub of scented water is one of the best methods of relief from foot pain. One of the most highly recommended foot pain treatment is that you add about 10 drops of juniper and lavender oils to 2 quarts of cold water and soak the feet in it for 10 minutes. Considering that the feet are always under a significant amount of stress most of the time, it is important to elevate them once in a while to help take some of that pressure off. This would help to reduce any of the swelling and raising them about 6 inches above your heart when you sleep is highly recommended.
