Natural Treatment for Restless Legs Syndrome
The most effective treatment for restless legs syndrome is a well balanced and nutritious diet. Incorporate more of iron rich foods in your diet. Dried fruits, leafy green vegetables, poultry, fish, apricots, parsley, pumpkin seeds and red meats are the most common iron rich foods.
Vitamin E also has therapeutic effect and can help cure restless legs syndrome. Foods rich in Vitamin E are seeds, nuts, vegetable oils and wheat germ.
Avoid tea immediately after having your meal because it inhibits the absorption of iron in the body. Limit your consumption of coffee, cola, chocolates and sweetened sugar. You can also take nutritional supplements containing essential vitamins and minerals.
Many natural herbs such as Valerian, verbena, lime flower, ginger, oats and horse chestnut can also be effective in curing the legs syndrome. These herbs are mostly consumed in the form of tea. You can also try soaking your legs in cool water. Don’t place your legs in ice water as this can damage your nerve.
Acupuncture and homeopathy are also beneficial for treating all points of legs, improve body mechanics and maintain the energy balance. Involve yourself in some kind of physical activity such as walking, cycling and swimming as these activities will help in improving circulation and discourage attacks.
