Getting rid of lice

Infections occur when your head comes into contact with another that is infected with lice. If the two heads are in contact for 60 seconds, lice can be transferred. When you feel the itchiness, what you are actually doing is reacting to the saliva of the lice.


It takes a few months before children start scratching their scalp, because of sensitivity. Adults don’t normally react, because their scalps are less sensitive. Combing you hair twice a day with a fine comb prevents infection.


Using a hair conditioner and a fine comb will make it much harder for the lice to hold on.

Below are few home remedies to get rid of lice: 

• Apply a mixture of turmeric with ground guava leaves to the scalp about two hours before bathing or showing. This will help to get rid of the lice.
  
• You can also try mixing a cup of curd with half a spoon of black pepper and add two spoons of lemon juice. Mix this together and massage it to your scalp two hours before you bath. Be careful using this method; make sure your eyes are closed at all times.
  
• Margosa leaves can also be used in this situation, just applying the ground leaves to the scalp and rinsing off approximately two hours later can help you to rid lice.
