I am sure you must have meant that you want to maintain an ideal weight. Having a slim physique is a boon in today's day and age, considering the multi-million dollar industry the weight loss fad has spawned. One of the simplest ways to maintain an ideal weight is to eat right and exercise daily.
To gain the right weight and be healthy you would need to take in more than usual calories, from healthy sources - every day in the form of healthy foods. Choosing the right type of exercise for weight gain is also helpful.
However, stay away from junk foods or greasy foods; even though it may promise quick weight gain it is likely to bring about lasting ill-health and harmful consequences.
Junk foods are replete with unhealthy trans fats and saturated fats. Calories that come from junk foods are certainly not good for you.
Include healthy fats such as omega-3 essential food sources like tuna fish, salmon fish, flax seeds, and walnuts. Foods like lean meats, poultry, and fish are excellent sources of protein as are nuts, seeds and legumes. Good sources of carbohydrate include fresh fruits such as bananas, pears, apples, pineapple; green leafy vegetables and whole grains such as oat bran, pumpernickel, or rye. Opt for dried fruits like raisins, dates, dried apricots; nuts, starchy vegetables like potatoes, carrots, peas, winter squash, corn, and beets; dense whole grain breads and cereals, healthy bean soups such as lentils, split peas, hearty black beans, chili with beans, barley, or minestrone soups among others. Try eating five or six small balanced meals per day instead of eating large meals, particularly if you are not used to eating a large quantity at one sitting. Another interesting way to add up fiber and protein to your diet is to increase your intake of flax seed oil by a small amount. Psyllium powder is believed to offer extra fiber; hence a small quantity of psyllium could be useful in adding extra fiber to your diet.
Exercise for healthy weight gain is also very important. Resistance training exercises such as exercising with weights helps in increasing the bulk of muscles. Aerobic workouts such as jogging and bicycling are believed to induce faster fat loss, while intensive aerobic training can lead to increased weight loss. You would need to be patient as weight gain can take a while, but if you continue to opt for healthy foods and follow the right exercise, you will certainly attain your ideal weight.
