Low blood pressure remedies Low blood pressure (Hypotension) can be the result of some infection, dehydration, excessive bleeding, pregnancy, or high dosage of medicines, among other things. Hypotension can result in feelings of light-headedness and may even lead to passing out.
Make sure you have 8-10 glasses of water everyday to keep yourself from dehydrating. You can also supplement this with a glass or two of beetroot juice daily. Another thing to try is soaking five or six almonds and about ten to fifteen raisins in half a cup of water, overnight. Eat the soaked dry fruit and nuts next morning, and this will be beneficial in warding off an episode of hypotension.
It is important to make sure you have adequate sodium in your diet so make sure you have enough salt in your food. Although too much sodium is not conducive to good health, you need to ensure you are having regular amounts of it in your daily diet. Sprinkle it on salads, blend it in with some lemonade, or add a dash of it to chopped apples and guavas in a fruit medley. Also, if you are in an upright position, or involved in any strenuous activity at the time of the episode, cease the activity immediately. Avoid conversing and find a quiet place where you can lie down. Lay down flat on your back with your arms and legs in a relaxed position. Take slow, deep breaths and keep your eyes closed to get over the low blood pressure.
