Eye bags are mainly caused due to fat accumulation under the eye. Other causes of eye bags are heredity, allergies, hormonal changes, lack of sleep, thyroid disorder, saggy skin, natural aging process and keeping your head in bended position for long.
Following are some of the most effective home remedies for curing eye bag developed under the eye.
- Place a slice of raw potato on your eyes. This will help in tightening baggy eyes.
- Sprinkle water on your eye and eye area.
- Keep your head in an elevated position when you sleep.
- Avoid drinking too many fluids before going to bed.
- Limit your intake of salt.
- If the cause is natural aging process, then don't apply any kind of wrinkle removing ointment under or near your eyes.
- Whenever you apply make up, make sure to remove the oil-based makeup using a good cleanser. The oil and other residues present in most of the make up cosmetics can result in swelling and inflammation under the eye.
- Avoid eating allergic foods and applying allergic ointments.
- Compress of iced water applied directly on the closed eyelids can also be beneficial. Leave the compress of about 20-25 minutes.
- You can also try a compress of cold milk over your closed eyelids.
- Washing your eyes with tepid water can also help.
