Remedies for ulcerative colitis

I have been taking Prednisone, Imuran, Asacol, and Remicade for my UC with no success. Are there any other options before surgery?

Ulcerative colitis is a serious condition, but can be treated. The best herbal treatment is 1 teaspoon of Slippery Elm mixed with yogurt and mashed banana along with one cup of cold chamomile tea daily. This will form a protective layer in the intestines and should begin to heal within weeks. Additional herbs can be used to support this treatment. These herbs include: Agrimony, Rhubarb, Echincea, Marshmallow, and Dandelion.

With Ulcerative Colitis and other forms of Colitis, it is important to increase your vitamin intake, especially iron to avoid anemia. Try to get as much exercise as possible and pay close attention to your diet. Eating whole foods and raw fruits and vegetables is very beneficial. Another highly effective treatment is taking Earth Based Organisms, people with Colitis and Crohn's Disease who take Earth Based Organisms usually see positive results within days. Unfortunately, surgery is usually not a productive option and can lead to more complications. Try to avoid sweet food and excessive weight gain, even though it is difficult with this condition to do so. It is emotionally difficult to deal with, so it is important to try to keep a positive outlook and spend as much time as possible doing things you enjoy and visiting with friends and family.
