Skin rashes mostly occur when the surface of the skin is irritated by either direct contact with a chemical substance present in the immediate surroundings or an allergen present in certain kinds of food. Contact with some cosmetic products is often the cause behind the appearance of rashes. However, rashes commonly occur in a cluster as flaky, red spots and rarely as a single spot or mark, so it is advisable that you seek alternative professional opinion on the matter.
However, in the meantime, you may try a few home remedies to treat the condition. Wash the area with a solution of a teaspoon of powdered oatmeal mixed in a liter of clean water. This helps kill any allergy causing germs that may be present at the site and soothes the skin naturally. You could also boil a few chamomile flowers in a pot of water and collect the clear extract in a jar. After it cools down, use this extract to wash the affected spot. If the spot is itchy, you may also apply a little baking soda and hold it in place with a ball of cotton wool for a few minutes. This is a very useful way of treating inflamed skin and getting rid of rashes. You may also massage the area with the juice of aloe vera leaves in order to treat skin rashes. Aloe vera acts as natural antimicrobial agent that destroys infection causing bacteria and fungi and helps treat skin rashes. Before going to bed every night, apply a little olive oil on the affected area. This gets rid of rashes in a couple of days.
Alternatively, grind a few basil leaves in a tablespoon of olive oil and add to it two crushed cloves of garlic and a pinch of salt and pepper. Smear this mixture over the rash and let it dry naturally in the air before washing the area with water. Dabbing the rash with a piece of cotton cloth soaked in comfrey or calcium water also helps reduce inflammation and treat skin rashes. Rubbing the skin with the peel of a raw papaya for five minutes every day is another effective remedy for skin rashes. Also, mix cod liver oil and vitamin E oil in equal proportions and apply this on the rash to get rid of it. Besides these remedies, a few general measures may help treat the rash. Avoid friction between the skin and the fabric of the garments you wear by option for loose, cotton clothes only.

If the condition has not been diagnosed by a dermatologist as one of the typical contagious diseases, then a naturopathic physician would typically examine the link between foods, digestive function and skin elimination. Skin conditions often occur because other organs of elimination get overloaded, or because there is a family history or predisposition for skin conditions. Often there is a strong link between immune system development and the appearance of skin conditions. The immune system does not fully develop until approximately 7 years old. So, I would recommend the child see a licensed health care practitioner who could explore food sensitivities, digestive function and immune support. It's not possible to provide good recommendations without a thorough history and physicial examination for most dermatological conditions. Dr. Karen Benton, Naturopathic Physician
