(17 Jul 2007)

Low blood pressure, also known as hypotension, is a condition where the heart does not pump the blood with enough force that would allow the blood to reach all the extremities in the body. The blood pumping action of the heart in this instance is weak. Such a condition may cause weakening of the human body and low levels of energy to fulfill tasks and routine actions.

Though there are many medical low blood pressure treatments, there are many who believe in natural remedies for low blood pressure. Low blood pressure can be remedied by the right kind of lifestyle routine and a healthy diet. If the arterial pressure is lowered beyond a particular point, it may even decrease the amount of blood that flows to the heart. Faulty nutrition is the primary cause of lowering of blood pressure. A deficiency of proteins and vitamin C is the primary trigger for lowering of blood pressure. If there has been a huge loss of blood, the blood pressure can fall rapidly. If you are looking for a low blood pressure remedy, here are a few:

  • Beetroot is known to be one of the most effective low blood pressure remedy. Extract the juice of a raw beetroot and drink a cup of it everyday, at least once. Within a week of following this ritual, you will be able to see remarkable improvement in your blood pressure.
  • A hot salt bath with Epsom salts can help lower blood pressure in a healthy manner. You could dissolve at least half a kilogram of Epsom salts in an ordinary hot water bath tub and then soak your body in this Epsom bath for at least 20 minutes. It is best to take this bath just before going back to bed.
  • A lower blood pressure diet is a prerequisite to treat your problem. There are many nutrients which could help you lower your blood pressure naturally. Vitamins B and C and proteins are some of the nutrients which can help you treat low blood pressure.
  • Another great low blood pressure remedy is salt. Salt can help in raising your blood pressure to normal. However, do not consume excessive quantities of salt as it may cause excessive blood pressure and may even cause water retention in the body.
  • When it comes to a diet for low blood pressure, an exclusive fruit diet works the best. This would also help in the rejuvenation of your entire body. You should consume at least three portions of fruits every day, and if you are on an exclusive fruit diet, eat three meals a day consisting only of fresh foods.

Recurrent instances of experiencing low blood pressure could mean that there is some underlying medical problem that you may be affected with. In such a case a visit to your doctor would be the best low blood pressure remedy.
