Pure oils such as olive, grapeseed, almond and avocado oil can be used in scalp massages to stimulate hair growth and prevent hair fall. Here is a list of beneficial oils for hair care;
- Olive oil – This nourishing oil helps to keep the hair soft and moisturized. It works great for dry and brittle hair and also helps to tame thick, coarse hair.
Choose extra virgin oil as this is the purest form of the oil which undergoes minimal processing. Olive oil does have a distinctive aroma and color and some prefer to combine it with lighter oils such as coconut oil.
- Grapeseed oil – This is a very light oil that penetrates the skin easily. It is often used in hair care products because it does not weigh down the hair. It can also be used a carrier oil for diluting essential oils such as lavender and chamomile oil. Grapeseed oil is especially helpful in adding shine to the hair. It can also be used to treat dandruff and frizz.
- Almond oil – This pale yellow oil has a slight flavor. It is helpful in treating dryness and flaking of the scalp. You can even apply it to your scalp few hours before a bath in order to get rid of dirt and pollution particles.
- Avocado oil – Made from the avocado fruit, this oil stimulates the hair follicles, hydrates the scalp and also softens the hair. It can even be used to treat psoriasis of the scalp.
