Head lice are not only very irritating but also very embarrassing. Anyone could be affected by head lice regardless of their age, gender, or any other factor. However, there are a number of methods you could use to get rid of head lice at home.
In order to improve your condition, firstly you have to ensure that you maintain clean and hygienic conditions. The next and equally important step is to figure out where you are getting this infestation from. This is because you would unknowingly, be in close proximity with the source of head lice. If you are aware of the source of the same it is necessary that you avoid any contact with the source. You could use a strong and good shampoo which has sulfur in it to wash your hair. Avoid using your old bed linen and change it from the day you begin treatment. It is also necessary that your sleeping clothes should be washed well before you wear them. Sometimes, it is possible that the bedclothes and pillows you have been using have some amount of lice eggs fallen on them. This could result in the rebirth of the lice and also worsen your condition. Remember to wash your clothes and linen in warm water with a strong bleach; one that would kill infestation. You could also soak your clothes to prevent the same.
Mayonnaise could be used as a hair cream and applied to the hair. Make sure you apply it well to your hair and also your scalp. The application would choke the lice and prevent them from growing. This could then be cleared off by brushing your hair with a fine toothed comb. However this is not a one day solution and you would need to do it till you get rid of all the lice on your head. The mayo could be kept all night and washed off in the morning. If you do not see any results even after a week of application, wait for a few days and later use a stronger version of mayonnaise in a similar fashion. Kerosene is another excellent remedy for treating head lice. You could apply kerosene on your scalp and leave it on for a period of 15minutes. This may cause some burning if you have a sensitive scalp but can go a long way in treating your condition. However there are a few side effects that this could cause like that of the smell that it causes. Besides, you would also have to be extremely careful to not get this into your eyes, or else it could damage the sensitive mucous membranes of your eyes and also cause long term damage.
