HEALTH ADVICE ON DIET IN OBESITY

HELLO
(23 Jun 2006)

Obesity is a condition that affects many people across the world. As technology has progressed, instances of obesity have also increased. When discussing obesity solutions, it is important to first understand what causes obesity as there are times eve when children, teenagers, women and so on seem to get obese for no possible reason.

When one understands what causes obesity, it becomes much easier to use a treatment for obesity.

Obesity is linked to dietary habits and to exercise habits. Obesity and diet are linked together as an improper diet along with the lack of exercise could lead to the condition of obesity in almost anybody. These two aspects are of prime importance when it comes to this problem. There are some other factors that may be intrinsic to each individual, but it is difficult to change these factors. It is therefore best to discuss obesity, diet and exercise.

When food is consumed, it is processed and then absorbed into the blood. This medium is used to transport food around the body. The components of the food are important in determining an individual’s weight gain or loss. If the food is heavy, full of protein, fat and carbohydrate, it is likely to lead to weight gain. Heavy meals are also responsible for this problem. This is because the body cannot use all the nutrition that has been pumped into it. It therefore chooses to store some of these nutrients which can then be used in times when nutrition may not be available immediately. The problem here is that the next time an individual is hungry, he or she will simply eat more food. The stored food will therefore remain in the body and weight will be gained.

Obesity is defined as a condition where an individual’s body mass index score is above 30. Overweight individuals score between 25 and 30 on this scale. An individual who is obese should target single point reductions in his or her body mass index score until the score comes to the normal range of the scale.

The other aspect of obesity is related to exercise. Modern technological innovations have made it less and less necessary for people to expend any physical effort. This change has led to a situation where the amount of exercise being performed is significantly lower than it used to be, especially if one counts household chores. This, coupled with the consumption of unhealthy foods, leads to obesity. Obesity is a condition that occurs over time, it is not something that happens quickly. Exercise is important to help burn energy. When it comes to weight loss, the exercises needed by the individual are related more to endurance than to strength building. Therefore, low intensity-long period exercise like running and jogging will help. The reason for this is that the body will demand a continuous supply of energy which will gradually run out. The metabolism of fat is then necessary to maintain energy levels.

An obesity diet plan is one of the best obesity solutions that can be used to get over this problem. The obesity diet plan should avoid all foods that are heavy, oily, fried and processed. Generally speaking, all natural foods like fresh fruits and vegetables are considered to be healthy. If an individual replaces some of the unhealthy food with fresh fruits, he or she will be well on the way to achieving a good obesity diet plan. It is important that all the necessary vitamin and mineral groups are covered in such a diet as this would provide the body with the nutrients that it needs.

There should be a direct relationship between an obesity diet and exercise. When one begins with an obesity diet plan, exercise should also commence. Exercise may be light at the initial stage. However, with time, the individual will gain both strength and stamina. Both of these can be used to push the exercise regime further along. Obesity solutions will take weeks, often months to be effective. Patience is therefore very important.
