UTI Home Cure

What will stop the pain of a u.t.i.
( 5 Mar 2010)

Urinary tract infections are exceedingly common but can be averted quite easily. An infection of this nature is a source of great discomfort as it causes a frequent urge to urinate that can at times be most inconvenient. Moreover apart from the characteristic irritation it can also cause mild to severe pain, particularly a burning sensation when passing urine.

Although a UTI typically begins with a frequent need to urinate, at most times you will simply not be able to pass much urine. In addition to these minor symptoms, in some cases you may come down with a fever, experience chills, back pains, or possibly observe blood in the urine.

UTIs are caused by bacterial infection and can afflict both men and women. They are however a lot more prevalent among women, because of the proximity of the urethral opening to the anal opening and vagina. In the case of women therefore it is generally more common and can easily be treated at home, while for most men the problem could be attributed to a bladder stone, enlarged prostate, or even due to an STD like gonorrhea. At times a bladder infection may have its roots or source in a prostate infection. Men should make it a point to consult a doctor in case of a UTI.

In most cases however, natural treatments can prove to be very effective against a urinary tract infection, without any need for medical intervention.
  • Make it a point to increase your water intake, particularly if the weather is hot or dry. This helps replenish fluids that are lost, and also ensures that there is regular and adequate urination. This can help flush any toxins or bacteria out of the urinary tract.
  • Baking soda helps neutralize acidity in the urine, which is why it is often recommended as a remedy. Simply add a teaspoon to a glass of water.
  • Fresh and unsweetened juice of cranberry or blueberry is widely regarded as an effective remedy for urinary tract infections. Drink at least 2 to 3 glasses a day.
  • Try and increase your dietary intake of vitamin C as this will significantly boost your immunity, helping fight of the infection. Fruits like guava, grapefruit, orange, and mangoes are rich in vitamin C.
Do keep in mind that a urinary infection if neglected, or not treated appropriately can spread or become a lot more serious. If the infection spreads to the kidneys it can even turn fatal. Make sure you consult your health care provider if the infection does not resolve within a few days.
