It is normal to lose up to 100 hairs every day for an adult human being, but we hardly ever notice this because hair re-grows at a faster rate. However, sometimes one may start losing hair at an unusually fast rate, which causes the hair mass to become thinner, hairline to recede and bald patches to appear on the head. Such a condition is caused to dietary imbalances, sudden hormonal changes, lack of proper hair care, and worries and anxieties.
There are a few simple home remedies that you may find useful in treating this condition. Make sure that you eat plenty of natural sources of protein, since hair is basically constituted of a kind of protein called keratin and consequently its strength and thickness depend on your intake of protein. Eggs, legumes and pulses, whole grains, soybean and nuts are recommended. Also, never comb your hair while it is still wet, as this injures the hair roots and may cause increased hair loss. You should avoid using hair styling products and commercial hair coloring agents, as these contain harsh chemicals that cause damage to the hair and may lead to hair loss in the long run. Blow drying hair on a regular basis also renders it dry and brittle over time and causes hair loss. A simple way of strengthening the roots of your hair and inducing faster and thicker hair growth is to massage your scalp for a few minutes with your fingertips after bathing till the skin begins to feel warm and tingly. This effectively stimulates the sebaceous glands beneath the scalp and results in the growth of healthier hair. You should also massage the roots of your hair with a mixture of castor oil and almond oil thrice a week at bedtime. This makes hair grow thicker and stronger. If you are losing hair in patches, rub the bald patches with some onion juice or a thin slice of onion. The pungent chemicals present in onion naturally stimulate the scalp and the hair follicles and lead to denser hair growth. For another remedy, add two tablespoons of honey to an egg yolk and beat the mixture till it becomes frothy. Now apply this mixture on your scalp and leave it on for half an hour before shampooing. This is a highly effective remedy for persistent hair loss. Application of coconut milk on the scalp and hair also helps solve this problem. Another popular remedy for hair loss is to grind equal portions of lime seeds and black pepper to a fine powder, add a little water to it and apply this paste to the roots of your hair. Wash it away with water after 20 minutes.
