I have a short and thin hair that is curly at the end. How can I improve the length, volume and status of hair? Suggest me some useful home made preparations

Practically every woman yearns to have long and lustrous tresses. The texture and volume of one’s hair is dependent on a large number of factors some of which are; genetics or hereditary factors, nutritional factors, diet, environmental factors such as dust and pollution, hormonal imbalance and so on and so forth. Although hair fall does not have any serious implications on one’s health, its loss is reason enough to leave one feeling dejected and self conscious. Hair grows out from tiny apertures in the skin called follicles. At the base of every follicle is an up-growth known as the papilla. This is what is responsible for producing hair, when certain cells convert amino acids to keratin. Keratin is essentially the substance that our hair is made up of. Thus the rate at which keratin is produced, will basically determine one’s hair growth as well as its volume.

There are quite a few home remedies that can help in increasing volume and reducing hair fall. olive oil is a great remedy for treating this condition. It is known to enhance blood circulation, which in turn reduces hair fall and promotes growth. Warm about 2 teaspoons of olive for 2-3 minutes on a low flame. Once the oil has cooled to a favorable temperature, massage it into your scalp for 10-15 minutes. Let the application stay for half an hour, after which rinse it off with lukewarm water. As an alternative, you could also use mustard oil. It has been found to be equally beneficial for inhibiting hair fall. Take 2-3 tablespoons of fenugreek seeds and grind them into a thin paste. This should then be added to 500ml of water. Leave this aside for an hour or two. Later, massage the water into your scalp and leave the application on for about an hour, followed by a rinse with warm water.

Myrtle leaves have also been found to be effective for increasing volume and strengthening hair. Take a few of these leaves and grind them into a thin paste. Mix this with 250ml of water and leave the mixture aside for a day. The following night (at bedtime) massage it into your scalp. Wrap your head with a cloth or towel and leave the solution on overnight. It has to be washed off the next morning with warm water. This remedy should be performed once a week, till you notice visible results. Eat healthy, as this is equally important for keeping your hair thick, strong and long.
